2nd in a series of three for the West Africa Project
Artist’s statement about the piece:
This image represents the enslaved who are set free with their shackles falling off at the cross.  The reflective colors on the cross are not red and orange even though it is  facing that direction, instead they are purposely a purple-blue because the cross always represents our future and where we are heading.
After being set free the journey of freedom begins, but one might encounter a wilderness and other troubles along the way.  Up ahead lie mountains which represent hardships, and the moon which represents the dark night of the soul, but Jesus is there, beckoning us to follow.
