"This rather odd painting is the result of a dream about my dear friend, Michele, who traveled with me to Israel. The dream was very specific and detailed, and in it God explained the various elements, even laughing kindly at me when I shook my head and questioned the details. The next day I knew I had to illustrate the dream. The explanation of the details is private, and just for Michele, but I share the image here for all to see." Liz

"Having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross." Col. 2: 14-15
I can very humbly say that I am not the creator of them. I simply held the brushes." Liz

"I was undone by the fact that in the midst of Jesus’ most intense suffering on the cross, He could not lean His head back as that would have caused the crown of thorns to dig in. In His deepest agony, He could not even rest His head. Although He would have known this before, He still chose to wear the thorns for me.
Typically I start my paintings very methodically, laying out composition, color scheme, size, etc. But with the three in The Passion of Christ trio, I put on worship music, put my brush to the canvases, and watched, as if in third person, the images take form before me.
"While visiting the Garden of Gethsemane in Jerusalem I was so moved by the ancient olive trees there, some of which are over 2,000 years old. I realized that I was standing before gnarly but living eye witnesses to the events that night which would change forever, the course for mankind.
Typically I start my paintings very methodically, laying out composition, color scheme, size, etc. But with the three in The Passion of Christ trio, I put on worship music, put my brush to the canvases, and watched, as if in third person, the images take form before me.

16.25" x 19" Framed Watercolor Original: $625 SOLD

"While I was by the Sea of Galilee in Israel, this plein air watercolor emerged after spending the morning on a boat in the middle of the Sea. I was trying to imagine what it must have been like to see Jesus approaching on the surface of the water.
But I landed in Israel only to discover that I had left all of my art supplies at home. So there in Tiberias (a town on the shores of Galilee) I was able to find a very good art store and loaded up on paints, brushes, and watercolor paper. Thus, this is the only one which may boast that it was created entirely with authentic, Israeli art supplies.
Once home in the US, I carefully tore the edges of the paper and custom framed it float-mounted for dramatic affect." Liz
