If you cannot pick up your purchase at the gallery, any item can be shipped to you. Since there are different shipping options, as well as optional insurance, call or e-mail the Gallery to get an estimate. International shipping also available.

What is a Giclee?

"Giclée (pronounced "gee-clay") is a French term meaning "spraying of ink." Unlike traditional press prints, giclée reproductions are not composed of microscopically small, even rows of dots which have been pressed onto the surface of the paper. Instead, the image is sprayed out and the inks blended on the surface to capture a much more accurate reproduction of the artist's original painting. Giclée prints can therefore be produced on various surfaces such as watercolor paper, linen canvases, and more. This technique produces a superior quality print with a lush, velvety finish.

Traditional press prints are mostly limited to 4-6 color printing, whereas giclée prints are created typically using professional 8-12 color printers through a highly sophisticated inkjet printing process. The professional inks used are guaranteed to withstand fading up to 160 years. Most artists cannot guarantee that on their originals!

Fine art galleries and museums have begun to realize the vast potential of this technology and have made giclée editions a permanent part of their collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, and Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, to name a few.
